Angélica began designing when she was only 5 years old, making clothes for her one and only Barbie doll. Growing up on the south side of Chicago was not easy. Angélica’s parents, both immigrants from Mexico, worked multiple jobs to support the family. At times, she had to wear second hand clothing from neighbors and her two older brothers. She would daydream about wearing beautiful princess gowns and ballerina dresses. She thought if she learned how to make them, she wouldn’t have to wear her neighbor’s clothes anymore.
The daydream is now over. The dream is now a reality. She has fought tooth and nail to become recognized as a Fashion Designer in Chicago. Facing the fall of the economy, struggling to balance Family and Career, Angélica continues to pursue her dream. Her perseverance and motivation is a true testament that anyone can accomplish their goals. Angel Eyes Designs continues to design, pushing beyond the fundamentals of fashion to create something new and original.

Angélica Santoyo de Bernal is a local Chicago Fashion Designer who started from nothing and turned it into something all her own. She studied at Columbia College Chicago and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts/Concentration in Fashion Design. At the time, Chicago was not a city recognized for its fashion industry. She struggled to find her place in the city full of strong competitors. She took some time off and focused on family rather than career.
However, the passion thriving inside her finally pushed its way through the barriers. She quit her full-time job to dedicate herself to the world of Fashion. On March 7th, 2009, Angélica debuted her clothing line “Angel Eyes Designs” and first Collection “Commonly Rare” at Bon V Night Club. Many people made their way to the show making it a huge success. Soon after, Angel Eyes Designs was featured in a Lingerie show along side Akira Fashions. In November 2009, Latino Fashion Week invited Angélica to showcase her collection on opening night. Angel Eyes Designs was once again featured at Latino Fashion Week 2010. With their help and support, she appeared on WGN, ABC and NBC, exposing her talent to the city of Chicago. It was truly a dream come true.

Also, Angelica was able to capture these photos in natural day light with no Photoshop or enhancers done to the photos,(besides the company name on the bottom.) A special thank you to the wonderfully playful Leia and her father, Joel. It was truly a "Magnificent" Day!

The Angel Eyes "Restricted" Collection was initially designed for a Fashion Show. The show raised eyebrows and many questions. After the show, Angel Eyes & Knapp Photograghy ( www.knappphotographychicago.com ) worked on a photo shoot together.
The concept behind the shoot was to address sexuality. Many people are at times not comfortable with the topic, yet sex is all around us. If these photos raise more eyebrows, Angel Eyes hopes that we can talk about what is on your mind. Let's lift the blindfold from our eyes and educate ourselves.
Again, thank you to MUA: Analise Ojeda, Knapp Photograghy, & Models: Catherine Ivette and Jay Noriega.
